Dancing with Fireflies Foundation is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing light, hope, and comfort to children in foster care. Our mission stems from a simple belief: when individuals come together, they can create meaningful change—one act of kindness at a time.
Every year, countless children enter foster care facing uncertainty and loss. Too often, they are given nothing more than a plastic garbage bag to carry their most precious belongings—their entire life packed into a disposable sack. This stark reality reflects the fear, instability, and lack of dignity many children experience daily.
At Dancing with Fireflies Foundation, we aim to change that. Our Comfort Care Bags provide children with sturdy duffel bags of their own, thoughtfully filled with items that offer comfort, security, and joy. Each bag includes essentials such as soft blankets, stuffed animals, books, coloring supplies, hygiene items, water bottles, brushes, and warm clothing like gloves and socks. Every delivery also includes a personalized card from a volunteer, offering a message of care and encouragement. These bags serve not only as practical support, but also as a tangible reminder that these children are seen, valued, and loved.
In Tennessee alone, nearly 8,000 children were in foster care in 2023—underscoring the urgent need for community support. Through Dancing with Fireflies Foundation, we invite individuals, schools, and organizations to make a difference through donations, volunteering, or participating in our bag-making events.
